Buzz the Red, White, and Blue at Heartland
PADUCAH, KY - The 5th annual Dream Factory of Paducah Buzz the Red, White, and Blue event will be Saturday, June 23 at 10 am at the Youth Center of Heartland Worship Center, 4777 Alben Barkley Drive in Paducah. The fund-raising event supports the local chapter of the Dream Factory, a national organization that grants wishes to children ages 3 through 18 who are critically or chronically ill.
Red represents firefighters; white represents emergency medical workers; and blue represents law enforcement personnel. Members of each organization will be collecting donations to benefit the Dream Factory. At the event, the emergency services personnel will bring their donations and have their heads shaved (buzzed) by local barbers and beauticians. The shaved heads symbolize support for children living with cancer and other critical and chronic illnesses.
Dream Factory of Paducah President Janice Harris says, “We hope to have a lot of participation this year. Our funds are lower than they have been in many years, and we need to build them back up.” Since 1983, the Paducah chapter has granted 371 dreams to critically or chronically ill children. The chapter currently has seven children who are waiting for their dreams.
The Dream Factory organization was founded in 1980. The Paducah chapter, one of 38 nationwide, started in 1983 and works in an area within a 60 mile radius of Paducah. For more information about the Dream Factory, contact Janice Harris at 270-519-6823 or visit www.dreamfactoryinc.org.
