Empty Bowls Project Benefits Community Kitchen Saturday Feb 24

PADUCAH, KY - For yummy food and a good cause, the public is invited to the Empty Bowls Project at the Julian Carroll Convention Center on Saturday, Feb. 24th from 11:30 am to 2 pm. Proceeds benefit the Community Kitchen (whose volunteers served over 70,000 meals in 2017).

Organizer Michael Terra works with the Paducah School of Art and Design, along with community residents, local artists and school children, to create nearly 1,700 ceramic bowls each year. These handmade bowls are used to serve the food, and Empty Bowls participants can take one home as a gift. Food is donated by over a dozen local restaurants.

The Empty Bowls Project had its first event in Paducah in 2009 and has raised close to $150,000 for the Community Kitchen. On Saturday, organizers hope to raise another $20,000.

Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door on the date of the event or in advance at Terra Cottage Ceramics Studio, 514 North 7th St.
