Friends of the Library Book Sale

The Friends of the McCracken County Public Library will host their 25th annual summer book sale Friday, July 21 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in downtown Paducah.

This year’s sale includes more than 20,000 books sorted by subject, hundreds of audiovisual media titles sorted by format, and a selection of local and special interest books.

Most hardback books and trade edition paperbacks are offered at $1 each. Most of the other paperback books are sold for 50 cents each. Media materials are individually priced. The special interest and collector titles are offered at prices well below market value.

Saturday is ‘Bag Day.’ Grocery sacks are provided by the Friends and book sale patrons are invited to fill them with books for $5 per bag. Cash or check is accepted for all sales. Credit cards are accepted for purchases worth $10 or more.

Book sale proceeds are donated to the McCracken County Public Library to enhance its collection and programming.  Since the first summer book sale twenty-four years ago, the Friends of the Library have contributed thousands of dollars to the library.

This year the Friends of McCracken County Public Library celebrate 25 years of supporting the library. The organization was established in February of 1992 with 22 members.  Today, more than 360 households are represented in its current members.
