Easter Egg Hunt at Discovery Park of America

Discovery Park of America and Crosswind Church have teamed up to bring the area the largest Easter Egg Hunt imaginable on Saturday, April 20.

According to Lauren Jones, event director at the park, last year's crowd was larger than expected, so several new tactics are in place for this year.

“We have doubled the size of the hunt area and tripled the number of eggs this year,” Jones said.

The Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 1:30 pm with a hunt specifically for children with special needs. It will be in The Settlement, where the music won’t be as loud, the crowd won’t be as big and parents will be allowed to help. Then, at 2:00 pm, the Great Lawn will come alive with four different hunts. Children two and under will begin hunting at 2 pm, ages three and four will begin at 2:15 pm, ages five through seven will start at 2:30 pm, and ages eight through 12 will begin at 2:45 pm.
“We are encouraging people to get to the park early this year,” Jones said. “We’ll have a special stage set up and entertainment including “Go Noodle dancing,” bounce houses, the Easter Bunny for photos and a special Crosswind Church ‘tattoo tent.”
Park officials say there will be over 30,000 candy filled eggs free for the taking. Jones said Crosswind Church is providing around 40 volunteers so there will be extra help selling tickets, parking cars and during the hunts. Children should bring their own baskets. The event is free with park admission.

The park will be closed on Sunday for observance of Easter Sunday.
