Dew Receives Lourdes Spirit Award
By WestKyStar & Lourdes Staff
PADUCAH, KY - Lourdes has named Melinda Dew as the winner of the 2016 Sister Lucy Bonifas, OSF Spirit of the Mission Award. Melinda’s peers nominated her for living Lourdes mission and core values of compassion, excellence, human dignity, justice, sacredness of life and service.

Melinda joined Lourdes in 2006 as a Social Worker for Hospice where she continues to work. She annually coordinates Camp Robin, a free day camp for children who have lost a loved one, and Children’s Grief Awareness Day.

“Melinda is the social worker that our other social workers lean on for a second opinion when needed,” says Kay Williams, Lourdes HomeCare/Hospice Director. “As part of her duties with patients, she has meetings with patients and families and is able to lead in having difficult conversations about goals of care and end of life.  Melinda never fails to advocate for a patient – whether that is tapping community resources, physicians or our foundation.”

The Sister Lucy Bonifas, OSF Spirit of the Mission Award was formerly known as the Employee of the Year Award. The name of the award was changed to honor Bonifas, who retired last year after 46 years of service to Lourdes and its healing ministry.
