The 29th Annual Hot August Blues Festival has one more full day of music and fun today at the Kenlake State Park amphitheater.

The festival is at Kenlake State Park in Aurora, Kentucky. Tickets are available at the gate.

Patrons will also be allowed to bring in their own coolers for the event, for a $15 fee. The fee will be shared with the Marshall County Rescue Squad, which receives 100% of its funding from donations and fundraisers.

The music starts at noon with The Watson Brothers Band. The Watson Brothers are fronted by Blues guitar-slinger Sweet Papa Dave Watson, who many might remember from his frequent appearances in the region in the 90s. He's followed by Elam McKnight, who's scored several hits on the Roots Music Report's charts for several years. Soul Dog follows with a heavy dose of Memphis R&B which recalls the glory days of Stax and Hi Records, including the sounds of the legendary Al Green.

Microwave Dave and The Nukes features the expert slide guitar of Dave Gallagher, a member of the Alabama Blues Hall of Fame. Ivas John was a favorite at last year's festival on Friday Night and the response was so great, he returns for a bigger audience this year on Saturday night. John is followed by Miranda Louise, who appeared at the festival in the 90s. She's performed on CDs featuring Stevie Ray Vaughan, Warren Haynes, AC Reed and more. Big Mike Griffin appears next and promises to continue his legacy as the “mayor” of the Hot August Blues Festival. He was the headliner at the very first Hot August Blues Festival in 1990, and has appeared at almost every Hot August Blues Festival since.

The Hot August Blues Festival finishes up with the legendary Larry McCray. McCray is one of the top Blues guitarists in the world with credits including collaborations with Derek Trucks, Dickie Betts, Warren Haynes of the Allman Brothers and Government Mule and more. McCray first recorded Haynes' classic “Soulshine” and turned it into an anthem. He also scored with hits, “The Blues Is My Business,” “Delta Hurricane” and many more.

Of course, so much Blues music can work up an appetite. That's why the “other” stars of the Hot August Blues Festival, might be the food vendors, including Tilford's Q-Krew with their award winning BBQ, Orleans Catering, with their authentic Louisiana favorites, Uncle Ted's Just Dang Good Food, with sandwiches and healthy food choices, Dippin' Dots, Cowboy's Kettle Korn and more.

Other charities which will benefit from this year's Hot August Blues Festival include The Shriners, who will be operating festival shuttles with all tips and proceeds going to the Shriners' Childrens' Hospitals, the Knights of Columbus and Marshall Strong.
