Paducah Main Street's Smashin' Summer Saturdays continue today and next Saturday.

This season's Saturday events began May 31 and run through August 2. Downtown Development Specialist, Melinda Winchester says, "Paducah's downtown offers such a unique experience for all ages of visitors. We only have two more Saturdays of this promotion, and if you haven't had a chance to come out and enjoy the shopping, carriage rides, and music, now is your chance."

During Smashin' Summer Saturdays, folks can take a free Market-to-Market Carriage Ride from 10 am until 2 pm. The carriage will take riders to and from Market Square and the Farmers' Market. Shoppers will be able to enjoy downtown restaurants, shop at the sidewalk sales at participating businesses, and find that must-have item at Paducah's specialty shops. Many of cultural venues including Market House Theatre, the Carson Center, Yeiser Art Center, and Maiden Alley Cinema will have special Saturday attractions as well.

The Farmers' Market Network of Paducah, located at North 2nd and Monroe Streets, offers numerous produce, baked goods, and artisan vendors. The Market is open Monday through Saturday 7:30 am-3:30 pm through mid-November.

For this Saturday, July 26, there is morning and early evening musical entertainment at the gazebo located at 2nd and Broadway. From 10 am until noon enjoy the talents of Alex Coltharp, banjo player and songwriter for both Gideon's Rifle and Red Ember. From 5:30 until 7:30 pm tap your toes with the jazzy sounds of Captain Freddy and the River Cats. They bring a vast background of symphony, Big Band, Dixieland, Blues, Progressive Jazz, Gospel and good old Rock and Roll to their performances. The group includes Tony Brown on trombone, Jimmy Sells on bass, and Fred Laude on banjo and vocals. They have played at several local festivals and night spots in addition to engagements on the Mississippi Queen Riverboat.
