The Yeiser Art Center is pleased to announce the call for entries for the 37th Annual Paducah Photo Juried International Photography Exhibition. Sponsored by the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah, Paducah Photo ‘12 is open to all photographers working in digital or film photography, including color and black & white photography, photographic book arts, and photographic alternative processes. All work submitted must be original, completed in the last three years and not previously exhibited in a Paducah Photo exhibition. There are not size restrictions.

Paducah Photo 2012 is expanding this year to include a second venue that will feature photography by regional photographers. The Paducah Photo 2012, Regional Showcase exhibition will be held concurrently at Maiden Alley Cinema with the Paducah Photo 2012. Photographers living in the Kentucky counties of Ballard, McCracken, Carlisle, Graves, Marshall, Livingston, Calloway, Trigg and the Illinois counties of Massac, Pulaski, and Pope are eligible to enter the Regional Showcase exhibit.

To be considered for the Regional Showcase, photographers from these counties must enter Paducah Photo 2012. All entries not selected for Paducah Photo 2012 will automatically spill over into the selection pool for the Regional Showcase for no additional fee.

This year’ juror is Ellen Simak, Chief Curator at the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, TN. She has curated numerous exhibitions and is the primary author of the second volume of a catalogue of the Hunter Museum permanent collection. Before joining the Hunter Museum in 1988, she was Curator of American Art at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha.

Ms. Simak received MA in Art History from the University of Delaware. Simak will award a total of $2,000 in cash prizes including $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, $300 for third place, and two $100 honorable mentions. A non-refundable entry fee of $8 per early entry and $10 per late entry is required for each photograph submitted for consideration. Photographers may submit up to five entries. The deadline for early submissions is April 27 and the deadline for late submissions is May 11. All entries for this year’s exhibition must be in a digital format and must be submitted online. Originating in 1975, Paducah Photo is one of the largest, most prestigious annual, and longest running photographic events in the Mid-South. Last year's Paducah Photo ’11 competition generated 568 entries from 227 photographers from 33 US States, Austria, Canada, France, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Juror Karen Irvine selected 76 photographs for the exhibition and selected five entries for cash awards totaling $2,000.

The Paducah Photo ‘12 Exhibition will be held at The Yeiser Art Center, 200 Broadway and will run from June 30 through Aug. 4. The Regional Showcase exhibition will be held concurrently at Maiden Alley Cinema. An opening gala reception and awards presentation will be held at the Center and Maiden Alley Cinema on Saturday, June 30 from 5–7 pm.

Major sponsors for this year’s exhibition include USEC, Etcetera Coffeehouse, Paducah Printing, and Horizon Media Group. Located in downtown Paducah, the Yeiser Art Center is a non-profit visual arts organization celebrating more than fifty years of serving the community through exhibitions and education throughout the Tri-State Region. Paducah is home to the Artist’s Relocation Program and the WKCTC Paducah School of Art.

The Yeiser Art Center is open Tuesday – Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. It is free and open to the public. The Yeiser Art Center is wheelchair accessible.
