As a working mother who put herself through school, Baptist Health Paducah volunteer Shirley Trail Lanier values education, so it was no surprise when she chose a classroom at the hospital to leave her legacy.

Baptist recently dedicated the atrium classroom in Medical Park 2 as the Shirley Trail Lanier Classroom. Lanier, a retired Certified Professional Secretary and Certified Manager for 27 years at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, made a gift to the Baptist Health Foundation Paducah’s “Celebrating Miracles, Transforming Lives” $10 million comprehensive capital campaign.

She chose to support the classroom specifically because it is used for educational training, meetings and support groups, serving hundreds of people each week.

“I greatly value the importance of education and life-long learning,” Lanier said. “I am extremely proud that I can support this very important campaign and provide an educational meeting space for hospital staff, volunteers and the public.”

William A. Brown, West Regional Executive and Baptist Health Paducah president, said Lanier’s appreciation of education aligns with Baptist’s mission to improve the health of our community. “Baptist Health not only cares for the sick, but also provides resources to help the community,” he said.
