Shonda Hollowell-Burrus has been named Dean of Students for Paducah Tilghman High School. She will begin work in the new job on July 1, and will replace Allison Stieg, who has been named principal of of the school. 

Hollowell-Burrus is a class of ‘93 Tilghman graduate, where she was a captain of the basketball, softball, and color guard teams. She was also the 1993 physical education student of the year, and homecoming queen. 

Hollowell-Burrus received her Associate of Arts in Child Development from MiraCosta College. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and a Master of Arts in Education from Azusa Pacific University.  

Hollowell-Burrus has been employed at Vista Murrieta High School since 2003. While there, she has coached softball, basketball, and cheer.  She has also served as Club Advisor for The Black Coal and Roses Society Young Ladies Mentoring Program, and Co - Advisor for The Young Gentlemen Leadership Club and The Black Student Union. 

She has been honored as California Educator of the Year (2018), Region 10 Educator of the Year (2017), and Vista Murrieta High School Bronco of the Year (2010). She has received the NAACP Service Award (2014), the Superintendent’s Circle of Excellence Award (2012), and the Black Chamber of Commerce Movers and Shakers Award (2011). 

“I look forward to Mrs. Hollowell - Burrus joining our administrative team at Paducah Tilghman High School,” said incoming principal Allison Stieg. “Her experience, passion and drive will continue to keep the tradition of excellence at our school on a high level. She is a proud graduate of Tilghman and truly bleeds blue!”
