Healthcare professionals invited to attend the free presentation Nurse Kelley Johnson will share her story with nursing and allied health students at West Kentucky Community and Technical College February 6, beginning at 12:30 pm.

Kim Davis, owner of Uniform Headquarters in Paducah, is collaborating with Nurse Kelly for her two-hour, free presentation for WKCTC students in the college's Clemens Fine Arts Center.

"We're really excited to be working with our longstanding partner, Careismatic Brands, and their national Cherokee Uniforms' spokesperson, Nurse Kelley Johnson, in inspiring a future generation of healthcare providers at West Kentucky Community and Technical College," said Davis. "Our mission statement is to 'serve those who serve others,' so whatever we can do to inspire healthcare professions this year and beyond, will truly be our honor."

Many may remember Kelley Johnson from the 2016 Miss America competition. She took the stage in the talent segment with her monologue, dressed in purple scrubs and a white stethoscope, about her passion for nursing and caring for Alzheimer's patients. Nurse Kelley also became a household name when that monologue went viral as an internet sensation after comments about her "Doctor's Stethoscope" by the cast of the television show "The View" sparked the #NursesUnite campaign and Show Me Your Stethoscope site.

Nurse Kelley, a registered nurse, was second runner-up for Miss America 2016, as well as former Miss Colorado, Miss California USA and Top 10 Miss USA for 2018. She continues to be a nursing advocate and now travels extensively as a public speaker, spreading messages of nurse appreciation and education.

Kelley's February 6 presentation at WKCTC is titled, "Why We Chose Nursing and How Nursing Continues to Choose Us."

"The World Health Organization recently designated the year 2020 as the "Year of the Nurse and Midwife," in honor of the 200th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. Nurse Kelley's presentation is a wonderful testament to this designation and her advocacy of the nursing profession," said Shari Gholson, dean of nursing at WKCTC. "We encourage all nurses, novice and expert, to join us as we are reminded of why we chose nursing as a career."

Kelley graduated Summa Cum Laude from nursing school at Iowa's Grand View University. She is currently studying to earn a doctorate degree. Kelley is currently living In Los Angeles as the chief nursing advocate for Wanderly, a traveling nursing technology company. She is also the national spokesperson for Careismatic Brands, which is representative of the nursing uniforms worn by WKCTC nursing students. She continues to host and emcee television shows and pageants across America.
