Paducah Tilghman High School seniors Bailee Patel and Samuel Lambert have been named School Winners in the Heisman High School Trophy Trust’s Scholarship Program. The Heisman High School Scholarship Program honors the nation’s most accomplished, community-minded high school senior athletes. By inviting students from schools across the country to share their stories of leadership and impact, the program aims to inspire all students to harness their potential, push their limits, and use their talents not only to advance their own futures, but to improve the communities and world around them.

From an applicant pool of thousands of high school scholar-athletes graduating with the class of 2020, more than 3,600 have been named School Winners.

School Winners will continue to compete for the chance to become State Winners, National Finalists or National Winners. State Winners receive a $500 college scholarship, National Finalists receive a $1,000 college scholarship and the male and female National Winners will each receive a $5,000 college scholarship and a trip to New York City to attend the 2019 Heisman Trophy Weekend events including the televised ESPN Heisman Trophy ceremony and 85th annual Heisman Dinner Gala.

Patel is a four year member of the Paducah Tilghman High School Swim Team and an eight year member of the Paducah Swim Team. She is the regional record holder in the 100 breaststroke and had been a state qualifier since 2015. With her relay team, she is also the regional record holder in both the 200 medley relay and the 400 free style relay. She volunteers as a swim coach for aspiring competitive swimmers. She has been ranked in the top 16 in the state since 2016, relays included. Bailee is the daughter of Melanie and Shiraz Patel.

Lambert has played on the Tilghman Golf Team for seven years, qualifying for regionals every year. He has played on the Soccer Team for three years, earning two Kentucky High School Athletic Association Academic All-State – First Team for soccer awards and received the 2019 Varsity Soccer Student Athlete Award.  He has also played on the Tilghman Tennis Team for four years and received the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Academic All-State – First Team for tennis.  Samuel is the son of Sarah and Jim Lambert.

Both students rank among the top ten in their senior class, are members of the National Honor Society, and are AP Scholars.
