McCracken County Public Library (McLIB) plans programs, classes, workshops and entertainment of interest to the entire community. In May, the following events are offered free of charge and open to the public:

Evenings Upstairs Series - The Man Behind Paducah's City Hall: Edward Durell Stone
May 2, 7 – 8 pm
Led by Melinda Winchester, Historic Preservationist
Join us for an engaging presentation on world renowned architect Edward Durell Stone, his famous works and fascinating career.

Bend and Book Yoga
May 4, Noon – 1 pm
This free public class series is offered on the first Saturday of each month at Noon.

Self Defense 101
May 7, 7  – 8 pm
Led by Jason Hawkins, owner and chief instructor of Three Rivers Self Defense & Wellness Academy.
Increase your awareness, not only in self-defense situations but useful information for your everyday life.

Shorts and Stouts
May 13, 7 – 8 pm
Led by Matt Jaeger, author and library assistant.
Join us for the next meeting of Shorts & Stouts which will focus on a pair of stories by Jhumpa Lahiri: "A Temporary Matter" and "Interpreter of Maladies".

Disaster Preparedness Workshop
May 14, 6:30 – 8 pm
Led by Craig Caudill, Nature Reliance School
This disaster preparedness workshop will assist you and your family in being prepared for man-made or natural disaster. We will be going over the essentials of mindset, skills, tactics and gear for newcomers and those who are experienced.

Pedal in Paducah
May 28, 6 – 8 pm
Grab your bike and gather with riders of all skill levels to tour some of Paducah's most notable spots in this series of laid-back, leisurely-paced, family-friendly rides. Rides are approximately 10 miles long and no rider is left behind. They start and finish at the library parking lot. Don't forget your helmet.
