By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - Babysitting is often a teenager's first business. Babysitter's Training from the American Red Cross brings the best in child development and safety training. It builds confidence to hold, feed, and care for infants and toddlers, work with children safely, and deal with emergencies. Just as importantly, it teaches lifelong entrepreneurial and development skills.
A training session is being offered June 27-29 at the Paducah Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, at 232 North 8th Street in Paducah. It will include leadership training, a discussion of the business of babysitting (including how to set your pricing), understanding and caring for kids from 0-10, safety skills for picking up, holding, feeding, and diapering infants and toddlers, first aid, and more. Bike safety will be led by Bike World, and water safety will be taught by staff from Brooks Pool at Broadway United Methodist Church.
Resources available include resume' and business card templates, a guide to "How to Ace an Interview", self-assessment tools, and a safety inspection checklist.
The cost is $85, and all participants will receive a manual, CD-Rom, drawstring backpack, first aid kit, and emergency manual. Lunch will be provided - please inform staff of any allergies or food restrictions. June 29 students should bring swimwear.
