Mayfield Independent School District on Wednesday announced that current Mayfield Middle School Principal Kim Reed has been named as the next instructional supervisor for the district. After nine years at the helm of MMS, Reed will move to the Board of Education as District Instructional Supervisor, overseeing instruction, curriculum and assessments of all students within Mayfield Independent Schools.

Reed has been an educator for 28 years, with the past 20 at Mayfield Middle School. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville and a master's degree from Austin Peay State University in education administration. Following eight years of teaching in Illinois and Tennessee, Reed joined the faculty at Mayfield Middle School in 1998. After nine years as a classroom teacher, she moved into the role of assistant principal in 2007, and then to principal of MMS in 2010.

"As principal, I have been fortunate to work with some of the finest adults and students in education," stated Reed. "Together, we have been recognized as a Kentucky Schools to Watch, effectively implemented PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports) and are growing student, teacher and parent leaders as a Leader in Me school. I will miss everyone at MMS, but I look forward to serving the district in my new role as instructional supervisor."

Reed will fill the position currently held by Beverly Offutt who will be retiring after 35 years with Mayfield Independent Schools.
