Students Jacob Birdsong, Ally Seibert and Marcus O’Nan all finished in 2nd place overall with a final portfolio value of $106,469, which represented a 4.72% return above the S&P 500 Benchmark.
Take Stock in Kentucky (TSIK) is a statewide investing program offered through the Kentucky Council on Economic Education (KCEE). In this stock market simulation, students learn to invest a fictional $100,000 in publically traded companies that are headquartered in Kentucky. Teams are ranked based on ending portfolio values after several weeks of playing.
Todd Broker, the Director of the Murray State University Center for Economic Education, which partners with the KCEE on programs like TSIK, honored the students onWednesday, Jan. 21.
The MSU Center for Economic Education aims to develop in K-12 young people the economic knowledge and decision making skills they will need throughout their lives as family members, workers, citizens and business, labor, government and community leaders.
