Students Accepting Donations for Running Track

SEDALIA, KY - Sedalia Elementary School’s running is raising funds to build a half-mile running track around the school grounds. They already have $13,000 in the bank and plan to raise the remainder needed.
Club members will accept donations in front of the Mayfield Wal-mart the first Saturday of fall break, Sept. 29. Four current sixth graders commented on the project. Each has been a part of the running club known as Sedalia Sprinters since fourth grade.
Shelby Turner said, “Sedalia Sprinters is important to me because one day I would like to be in the Olympics and Sprinters is keeping me and my dream going.”
Savannah Forrester explained, “It is really important for us to get a track because it encourages people to get outside, exercise and live healthier.”
Kendra Foster added, “The track would be so much better than the grass for us to train on.”
Nicole Taylor noted, “The track wouldn't just be for the Sedalia Sprinters; it would be for everyone to ride bike, run and play.”
Teacher Leslie Williams, one of the club’s organizers, concluded, “We’re grateful to each person who donates. This really is a community project!”
