PADUCAH, KY - SuperValu Recipe of the Week - Serves 4
1 pound lean ground beef chuck or *ground turkey
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder or grated fresh onion
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
8 Hawaiian rolls or Sister Schubert rolls, split in half
8 thin slices Vidalia onion
8 slices summer fresh tomatoes
8 small lettuce leaves
Pickle slices (dill or bread n butter)
Catsup
Mustard
Mayonnaise
Preheat gas grill or prepare charcoal grill to medium hot coals. Use wire brush on grate to be sure it is clean and then brush with vegetable oil before grilling burgers and heating rolls.
Place the ground meat in a bowl. Combine the seasonings and Worcestershire. Add to the meat. Stir all together until well mixed.
*Add 1 teaspoon vegetable oil or olive oil if using ground turkey.
Divide the seasoned meat into eight equal balls. Flatten to about 3/4 to 1 inch thick.
Grill over medium hot coals. Do not smash. Juices will ooze out and make the burgers dry-plus it will lose its flavors and moistness. Cook to desired doneness.
Brush the split side of the rolls with a little melted butter or tiny bit of oil. Place split side down on clean, oiled grate just long enough to make marks on the roll.
Place hot off the grill burger on bottom bun and garnish as desired! Enjoy!
