Kentucky has its first flu death of the season.

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department has confirmed one person has died from the flu in Lexington. That marks the first flu-related death in Kentucky so far as experts warn the commonwealth is in for a tough flu season.

Last season, state officials reported around 10-thousand cases of the flu and more than 300 deaths.

Health leaders are urging everyone six months or older get a flu shot. Those who are 65 or older are most at risk from the flu.
