2 cups All-Bran cereal
2 cups boiling water
1 cup butter Crsico shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 quart buttermilk
3 cups bleached flour
2 cups whole-wheat flour
5 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups All-Bran cereal
Raisins, toasted nuts, dried cranberries and/or dates
Pour water over two cups of the cereal. Cream Crisco, sugar and eggs. Add buttermilk and soaked cereal. Sift together flours, soda and salt. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture. Fold in remaining four cups cereal. Place in a covered bowl and leave in refrigerator until ready to use. Keeps three to four weeks. Add raisins, dates, nuts or cranberries - even coconut or berries to the portion you are using. Bake in well greased muffin tins at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes.
