1,900 Come for Close-up Look at Damaged Bridge

AURORA, KY - Almost 1,900 visitors turned out Saturday for a close-up look at the collapsed portion of the US68/KY80 Eggner's Ferry Bridge. The Land Between the Lakes offered the public access to the eastern side of the bridge Saturday as salvage operations began.
According to a news release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, about 1,900 visitors took advantage of the one-time chance to see the bridge up close from the LBL shoreline.
LBL organized the viewing opportunity for the community to have a last look at the bridge and boat while also raising awareness about LBL. Organizers said they wanted everyone to know that LBL remains open for business despite the bridge being closed.
