3-Year-Old Boy Dies after Shooting; Man Charged

PADUCAH, KY - Paducah Police say a three-year old Paducah boy accidentally shot Saturday died later that night at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. 

The victim, Braydion Scott Matlock, was first taken to Baptist Health in Paducah before being airlifted to Vanderbilt. Police said 21-year-old Nicholis D. Barbee, the boyfriend of the child's mother, has been charged with 2nd degree manslaughter in the shooting after he confessed to accidentally shooting the boy.

Paducah Police were called to investigate the shooting of the child at a home in the 1500 block of North 12th Street.

Police were called to a report of a "young male shot". When Officer Beau Green arrived, he found the child lying on his back on the floor with a single gunshot wound. Green and Recruit Officer Nick Francescon performed CPR until Mercy Ambulance arrived. 

Adults who were at the home when police arrived were interviewed by detectives.
