The second night of judging of the best of Paducah's lighted dogwoods is tonight between 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm. Only trees with spotlights will be judged both on and off the trail. It doesn't matter if a home has been awarded in the past. This 50th celebration year is like starting fresh - no one is counting how many times anyone has won awards. It's a fresh judging slate.

Following the first night of juding, 50th Dogwood Trail Chairwoman Dabney Haugh says, "Thank you, Paducah for such beautiful light displays. You have made the judging diffifult."

If you see a fabulously lighted tree that's off the main Dogwood Trail, call 270-519-1321 and let the Civic Beautification Board know. Their members will come by and check it out. Awards are presented for off-trail lighted trees as long as they are in the city limits.

Signs are being placed in the yards of those judged outstanding, and three special awards will be presented for the 50th Dogwood Trail. They are the "Grand Old Dogwood," The "Baby Dogwood," and the most prestigious "Dolly" award, named after Paducah Mayor Dolly McNutt, who founded the trail in 1964.

On Tuesday, April 22 a Dogwood Reception, to honor the awared recepients, will take place at 4:45 pm at City Hall. Awards will be presented during the city commission meeting at 5:30 pm.

This Thursday, there are $1 Trolley Dogwood Trail Tours that will take passengers on a 45 minute tour of the trail. No advanced reservations are being made. Trolleys will leave the PATS station at 9th and Harrison Streets at 7 pm, 8 pm and 9 pm. It's a fun way to relax and enjoy the beauty of the trail and not worry about traffic. You can talk with others as you view the beauty of the streets of Paducah in the spring.
