The staff at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Preschool are hoping to see their young friends again on Monday after they safely rode out an EF-2 tornado last Thursday.

The church on Highway 62 in West Paducah was badly damaged, but the Family Life Center was untouched, according to Preschool Director Michelle Rushing.

Rushing said "It's an entirely different structure from the rest of the building, so luckily, we didn't have any damage over here, so we can use it for services and the preschool."

Over 300 people attended Sunday's worship service in the Family Life Center according to music director, Jay Orazine. Members offered up songs of praise, prayers of thanksgiving, and tears of joy and remembrance after 40 kids and their teachers emerged from the damaged building without a scratch.

Staff is moving needed preschool items from the church into the Family Life Center and preparing for an inspection by the Fire Marshall on Thursday. Rushing said that if they pass the inspection, the preschool can reopen on Monday.
