A man was injured Tuesday evening when he crashed his motorcycle on Cairo Road.

At 9:26 p.m. the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department and Emergency Medical Crews were dispatched to an injury accident involving a motorcycle in the 3000 block of Cairo Road.

Police arrived on the scene and found that 48-year-old Edward Ozga had wrecked his bike, and had sustained injuries. According to deputies, Ozga was northbound on Cairo Road traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the accident and failed to negotiate a curve.  The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a highway mile marker sign.  It then began to roll and slide through a ditch.

Based on observation, Ozga’s own statements and that of witnesses, it was determined that alcohol and speed were contributing factors. Ozga was cited to court for operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

Ozga was taken to Western Baptist Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
