Staff at two local transit agencies were honored this week at a state conference.

Representatives from the Fulton County Transit Authority and Paducah Area Transit Authority attended the Kentucky Public Transportation Conference, hosted in Lexington by the Commonwealth Office of Transportation Delivery.

FCTA received the award for outstanding public transit marketing. Executive Director Kenney Etherton told West Kentucky Star the award recognizes their efforts in marketing public transit, and because their public ridership was higher than their Medicaid trips.

Etherton said, "I truly believe this achievement is due to our advertisements and being at events educating the public about public transit. FCTA also has a good team of employees that care about the clients we provide rides to."

Also at the conference, Purchase Area Development District Chairman & Paducah Area Transit System (PATS) Executive Director Arthur Boykin received this year's Outstanding Public Transit Leadership Award.

In addition to their home county, FCTA serves Hickman, Graves and Carlisle counties.
