By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - Auditions for A Christmas Story will be held Monday, October 8 &Wednesday, October 10 at 6:30 pm. in the Studio Theatre classroom.  Call backs will be Thursday, October 11.

Adapted by Philip Grecian from the book by Jean Shepherd, this Christmas classic follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself, at Goldblatt’s Department Store. The consistent response: “You’ll shoot your eye out.” All the elements from the beloved motion picture are there, including the family’s temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys’ experiment with a wet tongue on a cold flagpole; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie’s father winning a lamp shaped like a woman’s leg in a net stocking; Ralphie’ fantasy scenarios and more.

Performance dates are December 6-9 and 13-16, 2012. Adult roles include Adult Ralph as the narrator and assorted characters during the story, Mother, the Old Man, and  Ralphie’s teacher Miss Shields. Kids’ roles (ages 8 and above) include Ralphie, Randy, Flick, Schwartz, Esther Jane, Helen, and Scut (early to mid-teens). Michael Cochran will direct.
