Regions Bank on Friday publicly honored the 26-year-old that saved the day during an attempted robbery in Paducah over the 4th of July holiday weekend.

According to the Paducah Police Department, a 20-year-old woman was making a deposit at the night deposit box at Regions Bank on Broadway, when a man demanded the woman's money and tried to hit her with a piece of rebar.

Police said the two fell to the ground and were struggling when 26-year-old Jason Sesock ran over from the sidewalk and hit the man with his skateboard. Sesock hit the man’s arms and the victim grabbed the rebar and hit the would-be robber in the head. The suspect then fled on foot.

The woman sustained an injury to her wrist and was treated at the scene by Mercy Ambulance personnel. Sesock was not injured.

Jo Brown is the Branch Manager at the Regions facility on Broadway.  "We just really wanted to take a minute to reward someone that got involved that didn't have to. You don't always see that.  Jason had a split second to decide what to do, and without hesitation he chose to defend someone that needed help," says Brown.

Sesock was presented with a $500 check and a custom made skateboard from Regions Bank for saving the day.
