McCracken County 1st District Commissioner made his re-election campaign official by signing his candidacy papers on Wednesday.

Bartleman was elected commissioner in 2014 when he defeated a 16-year incumbent. His election followed a 39-year career as a government and pollical reporter for the Paducah Sun. In addition to performing his duties as commissioner, he works part-time for West Kentucky and Tennessee Telecommunications as director of special projects.

Bartleman told West Kentucky Star on November 8 when he announced he would run, “I have always enjoyed public service, first as a reporter and now as a county commissioner. I have been honored to serve as commissioner and, with the support of voters, look forward to having the opportunity to serve the residents of McCracken County for another four years.”

His goals are to continue to be accountable to constituents, hiring qualified and dedicated employees, providing more pay and resources for the Sheriff's Department, and creating a positive atmosphere to help create jobs.

He was joined at the McCracken County Courthouse by  his wife of 41 years, Carla, and their grandson, Austin Drake.
