By WestKyStar Staff
WEST PADUCAH, KY - A Paducah man was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle accident on Blandville Road.

McCracken County Sheriff's Deputies responded at 8:41 am to the intersection of Blandville Road (US Highway 62) and Mayfield-Metropolis Road. They learned from witnesses that a Hummer occupied by two 17-year-olds was driving too fast and very erratically, and had almost struck several other vehicles. The Hummer crossed the centerline of the road and struck a minivan driven by 34-year-old Ezra Moffett, Jr. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the McCracken County Coroner's office.

The driver of the Hummer did not have a valid license. Both 17-year-olds were taken to Western Baptist Hospital by Mercy EMS for treatment of minor injuries.

Detectives obtained a warrant so they could get blood and urine samples for the driver, who refused to provide them voluntarily. An investigation of the crash is ongoing, and it is possible that charges could be filed as a result.

Lone Oak Fire Department, Concord Fire Department, and McCracken County DES helped at the scene. Blandville Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while the accident was re-constructed and the vehicles were removed.
