The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has reduced the load limit for a bridge on Husband Road (along KY 1954) in southern McCracken County.

The load limit on the Bottom Ditch Bridge has been dropped from 10 tons down to 3 tons, effective immediately. This is along between Hardmoney Road and Krebs Station Road.

An inspection team found additional deterioration of the bridge substructure during a regularly scheduled inspection on Tuesday.

This reduction to a 3-ton load limit restricts traffic on the bridge to passenger vehicles and unloaded pickup trucks only. This limit excludes larger vehicles, including school buses and grain trucks.

The new limit is posted on the bridge approaches.

KYTC personnel had already started planning to replace the bridge, but due to this new information, engineers will attempt to accelerate efforts to replace the bridge.
