Brookport Bridge Lane Restriction Begins Wednesday

A contractor plans to restrict traffic to one lane on the US 45 Ohio River “Brookport” Bridge starting Wednesday.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says traffic on the bridge will be restricted to one lane while work to install new navigation lights on the bridge structure is completed.

Drivers should be prepared to enounter one lane traffic with alternating flow contrilled  by flaggers.  Lane restrictions will generally be limited to short sections in the specific work area.   

Due to limited deck width, the US 45 Ohio River “Brookport” Bridge is restricted to vehicles no more than 8 ft. wide which prohibits most commercial trucks and all oversized loads from crossing the bridge.

KYTC officials say the work is expected to take two or three days, weather permitting.
