Brothers Get 10 Years for Walgreens Robbery

Two brothers convicted of robbing a Paducah Walgreens at gunpoint last summer are looking at the next 10 years in prison.
 
Jurors convicted 20-year-old Delvonte and 18-year-old Delquan Copeland of first-degree robbery related to the Aug. 7 incident on Thursday. The Paducah Sun reports that After convicting the Copeland brothers, jurors deliberated for about 20 minutes on a sentence recommendation, deciding on 10 years each. The brothers could have received a maximum of 20 years.
 
Judge Tim Kaltenbach handed down the recommended sentence immediately, sending the Copelands right to prison. The brothers will have to serve at least 8 1/2 years of their sentences before being eligible for parole.
 
A 17-year-old juvenile was called as a witness Wednesday and placed the brothers at the scene of the crime. The witness received a deal to testify against the Copelands.
