Calloway Man Wrecks Van, Seriously Hurts Passenger

PADUCAH, KY - A Calloway County man is in jail after he wrecked a van near Leeder Bottom Saturday morning and seriously injured his passenger.

A 1993 Gold Ford van was found in the ditch just off US-45 around 6:30 am. It was determined that 21-year-old Christopher Wilson of New Concord was driving at the time of the accident. From the statements of the driver and the passenger, the vehicle left the right side of the road while traveling north on Old US45. It then hit a sign, struck a guardrail, and spun into a fifteen foot ditch. The passenger, 46-year-old Johnnie Pool of Almo, was ejected from the vehicle.

Mercy Ambulance took both men to area hospitals. Wilson was found to be intoxicated and was arrested on multiple charges after he was released from Western Baptist Hospital. Pool sustained a spinal injury, hip fracture, and minor abrasions in the accident. He was taken from Lourdes to a Louisville hospital for treatment.

Wilson is charged with DUI, 1st degree assault, two counts of criminal mischief 1st degree, terroristic threatening, and disorderly conduct. He was taken to McCracken Co. Jail.
