Calvert City Man Dies in Beltline Motorcycle Crash

A Marshall County man lost his life in a motorcycle crash Sunday night in Paducah.

The crash happened just after 8:00 pm on the Beltline overpass.

Witnesses told the Paducah Police Department that 24-year-old Chase Hansen of Calvert City was riding a motorcycle north and passed a vehicle driving in the right-hand lane. The driver of the vehicle said when Hansen rode back into the outside lane, it appeared he lost control of the motorcycle and its front tire hit the curb.

Police say Hansen was thrown from the motorcycle over a guardrail. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the McCracken County Coroner's Office.

The Beltline was closed except for one lane of traffic for more than two hours while the police department's Collision Reconstruction Team investigated the crash.
