Jackson Purchase Energy Corporation's President and CEO, Dennis Cannon, has resigned.

A press release from JPEC says Cannon left in late July to pursue other opportunities. He has served as President since May 2015, when he replaced Kelly Nuchols.

"On behalf of the board of directors, I thank Mr. Cannon for his three years of service to JPEC and its member-owners and wish him well," said JPEC Chairman Erick Harris.

Cannon, a Christian County native, was also quoted in the release, saying "I hold JPEC's member-owners in high regard and am grateful for the opportunity to have served them."

According to Harris, Interim CEO Michael W. Chambliss has been appointed by the board, but he will not be a candidate for the permanent position. Champbliss currently serves as Vice President of System Operations for power generation partner Big Rivers Electric, and has been in that role since January 2014.
