By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - A car hit a bicycle on Cairo Road Tuesday, injuring the rider.

At around 5:30 p.m. the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department responded to a vehicle vs. bicycle collision at the intersection of Cairo Road and Emily Drive.

The investigation showed that 46-year-old Barry L. Collins, of West Paducah, was traveling west on Cairo Road and was attempting to turn onto Craven Drive. According to Collins, the glare of the sun caused him to not see a bicycle that was being ridden west on Cairo Road by 19-year-old Joseph R. Tune of Kevil.

Further investigation showed that Tune was under the influence of an intoxicating substance at the time of the collision. Tune was cited to court for Operating a Non-Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/ Drugs and Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage Under 21.

Tune was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries from the collision.
