Four people were injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision involving members of a funeral procession.

Eighty-four year-old James Long told Paducah police he was turning left from Lone Oak Road onto Jack Paxton Drive, heading toward U.S. Highway 62, and did not see an oncoming vehicle. Long’s car hit a southbound vehicle in the outside lane of Lone Oak Road driven by 63-year-old Robert D. Robinson.

Robinson said his traffic light was red, but he drove into the intersection because he was part of a funeral procession. Police say the hazard lights on Robinson’s car were blinking and a “funeral” flag was attached to the roof.

Long, Robinson, and two passengers in Robinson’s vehicle – 42-year-old Tammy Dailey of Seitz Street, and 60-year-old Juanita Bates of Clay Street – were taken to Lourdes Hospital for treatment.
