Cardboard Boat Regatta at Noble Park Pool Today
By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - The Paducah Parks Services Department is holding the Paducah Regatta on Saturday, at the Noble Park Pool. Using cardboard and duct tape to construct a boat, the goal is to race it across the width of the pool without sinking. But if you do sink, make it dramatic because you could win the Titanic Award.
All of the supplies to build your boat will be provided, or bring your cardboard boat from home. All boats must meet specified rules and requirements. The race is open to all ages, individuals and teams. Visit www.paducahky.gov for the complete rules. Registration begins at 9:30 am with the boat race beginning at 10:30 am. Participants are given a maximum of one hour to build their boat, and all boat-building stops at race time. The cost is $10 per boat.
Trophies will be awarded. Awards include the Titanic Award for the fastest or most dramatic sinking; the Largest Crew Award for the boat that is able to float while holding the most crew members; the Crowd Favorite Award; and the Overall Winner for the boat that reaches the other side of the pool with the fastest time out of all heats.
