A traffic stop for careless driving Friday night lead to drug and other charges for a Paducah man.

According to Paducah Police, an officer saw a vehicle going through a parking lot on H.C Mathis Drive. The vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed and squealing its tires as it started and stopped.

The officer stopped the driver, and reportedly noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, 20-year-old Quandre' Tyrese Shy of Paducah, allegedly handed officers a bag of marijuana from the center console. A search of the vehicle turned up additional marijuana and a digital scale.

Shy was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving, and failure to maintain insurance.
