Carroll, Others Busy on Legislative Committees

WESTERN KENTUCKY - With the 2021 legislature in session, Kentucky Senator Danny Carroll is serving as chairman on one committee and a co-chair on another, and all area legislators are busily attending committee meetings. 

Carroll, a Paducah Republican representing district 2, is chairman of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Justice & Judiciary, and is co-chairman of the Program Review and Investigations Committee. He is also vice-chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Judiciary.

The second-term senator is also a member of the Medicaid Oversight and Advisory Committee, three Senate Standing Committees - Appropriations & Revenue, Education, and Health & Welfare, and he's on the Budget Review Subcommittee on Human Resources.

“I am honored to have been appointed to these committees, as both a member and a leader,” said Senator Carroll. “This session will be unlike any other as we address issues regarding the pandemic and the annual state budget. I am eager to get to work with fellow lawmakers and stakeholders to address these issues and many others.”

First District Senator Jason Howell of Murray, serving his first term, is vice chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Licensing and Operations, and is also a member of Standing Committees on Agriculture, Banking and Insurance, and Health and Welfare. Howell is also on the Capital Projects and Bond Oversight Committee. 

In the House of Representatives, 1st District Representative Steven Rudy is Majority Floor Leader, and is co-chair of the 2020-2022 Budget Preparation and Submission Committee. He's also a member of three Standing Committees - Enrollment, Rules, and the Committee on Committees. 

Representative Richard Heath of the 2nd District is chairman of the Standing Committee on Agriculture, and a member of two Standing Committees - Small Business and Information Technology, and State Government. 

Third District Representative Randy Bridges is vice chair of the Standing Committee on Transportation, and a member of Standing Committees on Appropriations and Revenue, and Natural Resources and Energy. He's also a member of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Education and Workforce Development, and the Administrative Regulation Review Subcommittee. 

Representing the 4th District, Lynn Bechler is Chairman of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Protection, Tourism and Energy. He is co-chair of the Program Review and Investigations Committee, and a member of three other Standing Committees - Appropriations and Revenue, Small Business and Information Technology, and Economic Development and Workforce Development. 

Bechler told WKDZ he is committed to passing fiscally responsible policies that will help the state rebuild and move forward.

Mary Beth Imes is the newly-elected Representative from the 5th District, and has been placed on the Standing Committees on Agriculture, Local Government, and Elections, Constitutional Amendments and Intergovernmental Affairs. 

Chris Freeland, from the 6th District, is vice chair of the Standing Committee on Small Business and Information Technology, and a member of three other Standing Committees - Tourism and Outdoor Recreation; Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Protection; Economic Development and Workforce Investment. Freeland is also on the Capital Projects and Bond Oversight Committee.
