“Now it’s important for us to give back to the community that has generously supported us through the past ten years,” said Mellisa Duncan, Challenger Learning Center at Paducah director.
Dr. June Scobee Rodgers, educator, author and the Challenger commander’s widow, had been scheduled to with educators and discussing her memoir Silver Linings: My Life Before and After Challenger 7 tonight but will be unable to make it due to illness.
Colonel Terry Wilcutt, Kentucky’s only astronaut and four time space shuttle veteran, will be sharing his experiences in space with the public on Thursday. The presentation will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in WKCTC’s Clemens Fine Arts Center. An open house at the Challenger Learning Center will follow the presentation. Wilcutt will be available for photographs and autographs during the open house.
There is no cost to attend these events.
The Challenger Learning Center at Paducah is as a partnership between WKCTC and Paducah Junior College, Inc. The center is part of a network of 45 centers founded by the families of the astronauts tragically lost in the 1986 Challenger space shuttle accident.
