Chef Sara to Represent Kentucky at NYC Event

PADUCAH, KY - Chef Sara Bradley, owner of The Freight House, popular farm-to-table restaurant in downtown Paducah, has been invited to join fellow Kentucky Chef Ouita Michel to cook at an event for the James Beard Foundation in New York City on February 27. 

Kentucky Department of Tourism announced 2018 as the Kentucky Year of Food with the upcoming kick-off event at the prestigious James Beard House. Chef Sara is one of two chefs featured along with local producers, including Fin Gourmet and Koru Gardens. Paducah is proud to represent western Kentucky in this tourism effort to celebrate culinary traditions, stories and heritage and invite visitors to experience authentic local flavors of the region. 

Bradley, a Johnson & Wales grad worked in New York before spending two years in Chicago, where she cooked for prolific chef-restaurateur Paul Kahan at Avec, Blackbird, Nico Osteria and Publican Quality Meats. In 2015 she decided to return to her hometown and open Paducah's only farm-to-table restaurant in the restored Freight House on South Third Street.
Chef Ouita Michel is a multiple James Beard Foundation award semifinalist and has established herself as one of Kentucky’s premiere chefs through her family of restaurants. Bradley said, "It's a privilege and an honor to share the kitchen with this amazing and talented woman, and we can’t wait to bring Kentucky’s best to Manhattan next month."

The James Beard Foundation offers a variety of events designed to educate, inspire, entertain and foster an appreciation of American cuisine. The dinners feature multi-course meals, complemented by wine pairings, prepared by guest chefs from around the world.

Bradley said, "We are very excited to have been asked to cook alongside such an amazing chef for this prestigious occasion, and are even more excited to bring Paducah and Kentucky to the global stage."
