The Paducah Chiefs and local former major leaguers teamed up Saturday to pass along their baseball knowledge to young fans at a free camp at Brooks Stadium.

Dozens of eager boys and girls were spread across the field as several Chiefs players ran them through their paces. The kids -- and the Chiefs themselves -- also heard the wisdom of former professional players including Chiefs manager Joe Hall, and 15-year major leaguer Phil Roof of Paducah.

Hall played ten years as a pro, including parts of four major league seasons in the 1990s as an outfielder. Roof played as a catcher in the 1960s and 1970s.

The Chiefs return home to Brooks Stadium this week for games on Tuesday against the Fulton Railroaders, Wednesday with the Owensboro Oilers, and Friday to host the DuBois County Bombers. Game time all season is 6:15.

Brooks Stadium will also host the Ohio Valley Summer League All-Star game on Tuesday, July 12.

Chiefs games are also heard on Life Talk 102.5, and streamed on lifetalk1025.com , with Ed Taylor calling the play-by-play.
