Curbside pickup of recyclables in Paducah begins Monday.

The city says Engineering-Public Works crews are ready for their first collection day in the voluntary program, which has been under development for the past few months.

This is a single-stream program, which means that all accepted recyclables can be placed together in the recycling container, with no need for residents to sort.

City residents can sign up for the voluntary program at any time. The fee is $3 per month for one 96-gallon blue rollout container, with additional containers available for an additional monthly charge of $3 each. The fee will appear on the property owner’s Paducah Water bill.

City engineer Rick Murphy encourages citizens to sign up for the program. According to Murphy, “To date, we have just over 400 recycling customers with a lot of room to grow.”

Collection on Monday will be for residents who have their garbage collected on either Thursday or Friday. The next collection will be Monday, February 5 for residents who have their garbage collected on either Tuesday or Wednesday.Recycling will be collected twice per month on alternating Mondays. If your normal garbage collection day is either Tuesday or Wednesday, recycling will be collected on the first and third Monday of the month. If your normal garbage collection day is either Thursday or Friday, recycling will be collected on the second and fourth Monday of the month.

To sign up for curbside recycling, use the form located online at www.paducahky.gov/curbside-recycling or call the Engineering-Public Works Department at 270-444-8511. The Paducah Water account number associated with the address is required in order to complete the registration process. Make sure the person responsible for that account is the one who requests the service.
