Mayor Brandi Harless, Mayor Pro Tem Sandra Wilson, and City Manager Jim Arndt will represent Paducah at the 43rd Annual Governor’s Local Issues Conference being held Tuesday through Thursday in Louisville.

While en route to the conference, Mayor Harless will also attend the Kentucky Innovation Day conference in Frankfort on Monday. The attendees will learn about the worldwide entrepreneurship network known as Techstars, which has a mentor network that spans 150 countries and more than 300,000 alumni.

Due to the conferences, Tuesday's meeting of the Paducah Board of Commissioners is cancelled. There will be a called commission meeting at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, August 21.

Mayor Harless said, “The Local Issues Conference is an incredible opportunity to network and learn from the various State Cabinet directors and staff. Those face-to-face conversations build relationships that will be vital as we work through local and state initiatives.”

Some of the workshop topics on the Local Issues Conference agenda include Developing Kentucky’s Workforce; Kentucky’s Opportunity Zones; KY Innovation: Strengthening Regional Entrepreneurship Ecosystems; Kentucky Wired: Transforming Kentucky’s Technology Landscape; Federal Grant Opportunities; Public Private Partnerships: How to Imagine, Finance, and Build Infrastructure in Your Community; and Secrets of Economic Development.
