Commercial Vehicle Fire Restricts Traffic on I-24
By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - Eastbound traffic lanes were restricted on I-24 Tuesday morning due to a commercial vehicle fire.

At 12:17 a.m. Tuesday, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and Reidland-Farly Fire Department responded to a commercial vehicle on fire at the east bound I-24 11 mile marker.

Investigation showed that 49-year old Jerry Hayes, of Florissant, MO was driving a commercial vehicle when due to mechanical failure a tire caught fire. Hayes pulled into the emergency lane and the fire was extinguished.

I-24 east at the 11 mile marker was reduced to one lane for about two hours for cleanup. Hayes was transporting assorted freight, none of which was hazardous.
