Daymar College has announced that it will no longer be accepting new students at its Paducah campus.

In a news release, Daymar Paducah Campus Director Greg Webb says students who are already enrolled will be allowed to finish their programs, but the school will not be accepting any new enrollments.

"This decision means that we are no longer accepting new enrollments, while still meeting all of the educational needs of our existing students," Webb said. "We remain committed to help ensure that every student has the instruction needed to complete his or her program."

Webb went on to say that the school has notified their accrediting body and the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education about the decision. He said he expects to have the last students finish their programs by December 2015.

Daymar Group has been embroiled in a lawsuit brought by Paducah attorney Mark Bryant and a Louisville law firm in 2011, alleging the college made false promises of job placement and credit transfers to students. The Kentucky Supreme Court has yet to make a ruling on the case, but years of fighting the suit has taken a big financial toll on the for profit institution. Bryant could not be reached for comment.

The decision to stop accepting new enrollments in Paducah comes after recent shutdowns of the Clinton, Louisville and Scottsville campuses. It's unclear if the move is a sign the company is headed for bankruptcy.
