A two-vehicle collision early Tuesday morning in McCracken County sent one person to the hospital.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened around 4:45 am at 4540 Clarks River Road. Deputies said 21-year-old Alexis Gish of Brookport, IL was traveling west on Clarks River Road when she apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

Gish's car ran off the right shoulder of the roadway and struck an unoccupied pickup truck. The collision caused severe damage to both vehicles.

Gish was taken to Lourdes Hospital for treatment of her injuries. One lane of Clarks River Road was closed for about an hour to allow for removal of vehicles and cleanup of debris.
