A Melber man has been arrested on drug charges following a search of his home Tuesday.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department said they were asked by the Kentucky Probation and Parole Office to assist with the search of the home of 37-year-old Casey Halstead, who is on probation for trafficking in methamphetamine. 

During the search, a glass pipe containing suspected drug residue, a spoon containing drug residue, and several syringes containing suspected methamphetamine were found. The items field tested positive for methamphetamine. Officers said that Halstead admitted ownership of all the items found.

Halstead was arrested and charged with 1st degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and 1st degree possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Kentucky Probation and Parole said that persons under their supervision are subject to random searches.
